The Irish economy continues to struggle, and with the global
economy constantly changing there could still be some tough years
ahead. Despite these challenges, Common Purpose Ireland is working
hard to fulfill the needs of the community.
On Monday 3 October, Common Purpose Ireland celebrated both the
growth and continued success of Your Turn and the launch the
Frontrunner programme in Ireland with an event that included Your
Turn alumni, supporters, third level students, contributors and
agencies that work with young people.
The President of Ireland, Mary McAleese was in attendance, and
shared her thanks and congratulations to Common Purpose Ireland,
and elaborated on how Frontrunner, pitstops and Your Turn can
contribute to developing young leaders:
"I would like to thank and congratulate Common Purpose Ireland
on the launch of these valuable programmes which seek out
leadership potential and enable it to develop. Each participant in
the programmes, by broadening their own insight and understanding
of the mechanics of leadership, will become stronger and fitter for
the difficult and sometimes lonely journey that leadership demands.
The investment in each participant is an investment in community,
society and country for these are the fields that are ploughed and
planted by leaders and these are where the harvest of good is
reaped".
The room buzzed with senior and aspiring leaders sharing their
passions, optimism and ideas to make Ireland a better place to
live. In the Market place for ideas individuals shared thier ideas
for how to make more opportunities for Ireland. Needless to say
people were inspired.
We've all worked hard over the last few years and it is
important for us to celebrate our success and the dedication and
generosity of those around us; with 1010 coming up what can you do
to inspire others to lead?
